An annual memorial to fallen police officers took on a special meaning in downtown Grand Rapids today.
Police officers from across the state gathered in Rosa Parks Circle to honor those who have given their lives in the line of duty. A roll call of the 27 Michigan officers who died over the last century was read.
The name of Grand Rapids officer Robert Kozminski was added to the list this year. Kozminski was shot while responding to a call last summer. Kozminski's sacrifice made him the 15th Grand Rapids police officer to die in the line of duty. |
